The Council welcomes petitions and recognises they are one way in which people can let us know of their concerns.

All petitions should comply with our petitions policy and can be related to issues that affect the residents of Essex.

If you are considering raising a petition about a planning application or planning policy document you may find it helpful, before starting, to seek additional information by sending an email to: mineralsandwastedm@essex.gov.uk for applications or mineralsandwastepolicy@essex.gov.uk for policy documents. If possible, please quote the application reference or document title in your email and also please use it in the text of your e-petition if you decide to raise one.

By signing an e-petition you agree that your e-mail address may be shared with other signatories to that petition in any electronic correspondence to the lead petitioner.

Sixth Form School for Loughton

Provide a Sixth form school in Loughton

Whilst Loughton has secondary schools there is not a community sixth form provided by the council. Many children in Loughton have to travel to areas such as Harlow to complete sixth form education. Whilst one of the schools has a sixth form it has limited spaces and the local college does not give priority to local children.

The Essex County Council petitions policy states that "a low threshold is suggested [for petitions to be considered by the Authority] as many are likely to be about issues related to a specific locality. The threshold for such petitions will reflect the minimum number of signatures the Council will consider constitutes a petition. The Council has set this threshold at a minimum of 10 signatures. Therefore, as your petition did not meet this minimum requirement the Authority will not take further action.
